Irene Namatovu Says Grace Khan Is Finally Doing Better

Irene Namatovu has broken her silence on Grace Khan, and the update is a hopeful one. Grace has cycled through several rehab stints while wrestling with alcohol addiction, a battle that’s played out publicly and taken a toll on her image online. Through it all, Namatovu has stood by her like a mother would.

Speaking to BBS TV, Irene Namatovu said she’s noticed a real shift in Grace Khan since she came out of rehab earlier this year. It wasn’t easy getting here. She’d tried talking to Grace about her drinking more than once, and it didn’t land.

She even brought in respected voices from the industry, Lady Titi and Afrigo Band’s Joanitah Kawalya among them, hoping they could get through to her. Grace wasn’t ready to listen. This time feels different, though. “Grace Khan is well and when we had a conversation with her, she told me she had got new management,” Namatovu said. 

“She looks well and when I see her, I notice that she has changed. We just have to keep praying for her because for a long time we have talked to her. Grace is so talented and we were hurt because it was wasting away.” She mentioned the closed-door meetings, the church visits, the prayers, all part of a long road that seems to finally be paying off.

Namatovu didn’t stop at praise. She also had a warning for the people in Grace’s circle who might pull her back toward old habits. “I’m not saying that friends are bad but do not lead her astray,” she said. “Leave her alone and I also told her to only copy good things from people to avoid going back to her old ways. People close to her should just keep talking and encouraging her; she will be okay.”

For now, Namatovu says, so far so good. Grace Khan’s story has had plenty of setbacks, but this latest chapter looks like the turning point her fans have been waiting for.
