Joshua Baraka Drops New Single “YOYO,” Announces Nationwide Tour
Ugandan singer-songwriter Joshua Baraka has released his new single, “YOYO,” a love song built around the messy excitement of turning a situationship into something real. The track taps into a feeling many people know well: being caught between two people who clearly have feelings for each other but haven’t put a label on it.
Instead of leaving that connection undefined, Baraka sings about taking the leap and making it official. What sets “YOYO” apart is its language mix. Baraka blends English, French, Luganda, and Lingala throughout the track, giving it a distinctly East African feel while showing just how far his sound has stretched.
This marks Baraka’s second single of 2026, and it offers another glimpse into his upcoming EP, “Recess 2.” Joshua Baraka wrote and produced “YOYO” himself, bringing in Hendrix Sam for additional production. The pairing works well: Baraka’s ear for a hook meets Hendrix’s polish, and the result feels both intimate and built for repeat listens.
