Bobi Wine Speaks from Hiding in Urgent Call for Uganda Freedom | Video
In a touching video message made from an undisclosed safe location, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, widely known as Bobi Wine, addresses the people of Uganda with unwavering determination. As the leader of the National Unity Platform and a previous presidential candidate, Bobi Wine continues his battle for Uganda freedom despite living in hiding for the past 40 days.
Bobi Wine fled his home after receiving direct threats of arrest shortly after casting his vote in the January election, leaving his family behind to face continual harassment from armed men who still surround and occupy the residence. Bobi Wine utilizes his platform to expose what he calls a fake election enforced at gunpoint by the military.
He describes how President Museveni once again rejected the evident will of the voters and declared victory by force. Throughout this challenging period, the opposition leader has remained active on the global stage.
He has interacted directly with the Geneva summit, addressed the European Parliament, and spoken to various media houses in Uganda and abroad, continually preaching the critical need for genuine democracy and justice in Uganda.

The personal cost of his commitment becomes tragically obvious in the video. Museveni’s son continues to issue terrible threats against Bobi Wine and other Ugandans who resist the illegal administration.
Cathedral prayer cancellation
Adding to the outcry, president Museveni took an outrageous step yesterday by stopping prayers at Lubaga Cathedral for Dr. Kizza Besigye and other political prisoners, a move that stunned believers and showed the regime’s expanding limits on basic freedom.
Yet among all these problems, Bobi Wine conveys a message packed with hope and strength. He urges every Ugandan to be resilient and to exhibit the utmost level of trust that the country will soon be free. He expresses heartfelt thanks to the countless citizens who have safeguarded him from harm over these 40 days, illustrating the power of community solidarity in the face of persecution.
Bobi Wine also offered his appreciation to everyone observing fasting during this period of Lent and Ramadan. He stated it was not a coincidence that Christians and Muslims are fasting at the same time. According to him, this reflects God’s will. He advised people to take this opportunity of spiritual reflection to unite and fight for their country.
The video of Bobi Wine humanizes the greater struggle for Uganda freedom. As a father, husband, and determined activist, he feels the emotional weight of separation and uncertainty while refusing to back down. His words remind Ugandans that meaningful change needs courage, solidarity, and continuous belief.
