First responders say that the area where this fire started was crowded with many things and was active. Many offices surrounding the area including those connected to one political party of National Unity Platform (NUP) were under risk. Fire was seen spreading around the surrounding infrastructures as well.
According to Nile Post reporter Siraje Kiberu, the primary target of the fire was the furniture workshop itself. He clarified the fact that the surrounding areas were not yet damaged.
Fire Fighters and Police Officers responded as early as possible to put off the fire. They did everything to stop the fire from spreading the neighboring areas to destroy more properties. Teams with water surrounded the area where fire started and helped in extinguishing it.

Insights from the Risk of Urban Fires
Kalerwe as a suburb creates more danger to the people since its design causes fire to spread very first. When you look at the furniture workshops, wood, vanish, and other chemicals used in their work are kept in the furnisher workshop yet they contribute to fast burning.
However, installing smoke detectors and alarms, fire extinguishers and also being on alert will help save lives and properties from fire. Further, this should be a reminder to everyone to consider fire safety first. This can be done by routine inspections and appropriate storage of fire starter chemicals.
